Bigbelly in Smart cities

Configure your Bigbelly Units
with our Innovative Technologies

A Bigbelly platform can deliver so much more than smart waste and recycling solutions.

Deployed in the public right-of-way, these units are perefctly placed for hosting additional technologies that can modernise a city’s core services.
The Bigbelly units are easy to access and can hide smart technology in plain sight.

Wi-Fi hotspot

The Bigbelly smart station can be used as a sealed unit to conceal a Wi-Fi hotspot in the public right-of-way. Powered by solar, there are no plugs or grid power required. The technology housed inside can provide instant Internet access with up to 20 metres signal radius.

Ideal for congested cities and Heritage Trails.

IoT Sensors

  • Today, every building can be smart, thanks to the Internet of Things (IoT) Smart Sensors that help prevent critical system breakdowns, reduce onsite engineering staff and optimise building system performance Sensors.

  • Smart cities around the world are implementing initiatives to promote greener and safer urban environments, with cleaner air and water, better mobility and efficient public services. These initiatives are supported by technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data analytics, that form the base of the smart city model.

  • Bigbelly are helping Smart cities to leverage technology solutions to improve city services and the living experience of residents. Municipalities use IoT sensors, networks, and applications to gather relevant data, such as traffic congestion, energy usage, and air quality.

This data can then be used by technological solutions to improve city services, including utilities, transportation, and public services.

SECURITY SYSTEM

Remote Hopper Locking

Bigbelly stations can be locked remotely via the CLEAN app during high-security events. A signal is sent to any individual (or number of) units requesting that the Hopper lock is engaged remotely, rendering the station unusable.

Stations are checked manually for safety, and once confirmed and remotely locked, they cannot be used by the Public during the time of the security event.

Any tampering with the station during this event (forcing of the hopper or the door, or movement of the unit) will trigger a series of Alerts to nominated people in the Municipality or Security Services.

The LED indicator will reflect the current Station Breach state

  • Solid Green + Flashing Red/Yellow – A station door has not been opened since entering Secure mode.
  • Solid Red + Flashing Green/Yellow – A station door has been opened since entering Secure mode (Breached)
