Alessandria, Italy, Makes Way for Innovation

Another big win for our fantastic Future Street Italia team. Alessandria has become the latest city in Italy to roll out Bigbelly’s solar-powered compactor bins as part of a broader effort to create cleaner, more efficient public spaces.

With 35 smart bins now installed across the city centre, Alessandria is taking a major step toward smarter waste management backed by real-time data, intelligent routing, and technology that supports both the environment and operational efficiency.

From Trial to Transformation

Already present in global capitals like Rome, London, Paris, Madrid, New York, and Dublin, Bigbelly has now replaced traditional mixed-waste bins in key areas of the city.

The 35 new units, covering around 20% of all public bins, have been installed in busy streets including Piazza Matteotti, Piazza della Libertà, Corso IV Novembre, and Via Dante, as part of a 6 to 12-month experimental phase.

Equipped with smart sensors that notify Amag Ambiente when they’re nearing full capacity, allowing crews to respond only when needed, the switch from traditional bins to our solar compactor bins will make a noticeable difference.
