In line with the 150^th anniversary of the Football Association of Wales, the 2026 UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals took place across Northern Wales over the last couple of weeks.

Ahead of the finals, the hosting grounds received significant upgrades to improve facilities for the players. The Football Association of Wales and Cymru Football Foundation invested more than £2m into the project with additional contributions from the English Premier League and UK Government’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Improvements across Bangor City Stadium, The Oval and Denbigh Town included:

• New pitch surface
• New dugouts
• Floodlight upgrades
• Changing room upgrades

The idea behind these refurbishments is to inspire and encourage the next generation of young footballers who will be following in the footsteps of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbapé, who both previously competed in this event.

The public can also benefit from these renovations as Denbigh Town now has a function room that can host 100 people, and they have already received bookings for events. This means the facility can be used on a daily basis and is not limited to weekend football fixtures.

Future Street is proud to have contributed even slightly to this project with the installation of several Bigbelly bins helping to keep waste out of sight and off the pitch. It’s great to see community groups, big or small, investing in their players and facilities to make the grounds more welcoming for spectators and competitors alike. These upgrades will help encourage the next generation of sporting stars and ensure a lasting legacy of the Championships for years to come.
