Future Street has taken home a Green World Award for our Reigate project.

The Green World Awards celebrate environmental excellence around the globe, and we’re honoured that our work in Reigate has been recognised among more than 500 entries.

The trophy will be presented at the official ceremony in Auckland, New Zealand, later this year, and we couldn’t be prouder to be flying the flag for UK innovation on a global stage. While we won’t be clocking up any air miles to travel, we will be cheering on the awards ceremony from the sidelines.

What are the Green World Awards?

The awards are organised by The Green Organisation – an international, independent, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.

They are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies.

They also publish The Green Book, which is the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can follow the awardees’ example and learn from their achievement.

The Reigate Project: Smart Waste, Local Impact

At its heart, this award celebrates more than just innovation; it celebrates collaboration. Working closely with Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, we delivered a smart bin solution tailored for the community. Our Bigbelly bins were deployed in key areas to help tackle litter, reduce unnecessary collections, and create a cleaner, more efficient streetscape for residents and visitor.

These aren’t just bins, they’re intelligent, more efficient solutions in the fight for smarter, more sustainable public spaces. Solar-powered, enclosed, and capable of sending real-time fill alerts, Bigbelly units are proven to cut emissions, prevent overflow, and reduce the strain on council resources.

The Reigate team understood that smart waste management doesn’t need to be complex, it just needs to work. With Future Street’s support, they’ve created a local environment that looks better, runs smoother, and performs more sustainably.

A Win for Sustainability

Winning a Green World Award means a lot to us, not just as a company, but as a team passionate about building a better future. It shows that our mission to make cities cleaner, greener, and more efficient is making a real-world impact.

Looking Ahead

By being published in The Green Book, the leading international reference on best practice in environmental innovation, our approach in Reigate will now serve as a global case study in smart sustainability. We hope it helps other councils to reimagine waste management in their own communities.

And for now, we’ll keep pushing for smarter public spaces. More sustainability. More creativity. More impact.

It’s not just about bins – it’s about building better places to live, work, and visit.
